Plein Air painting is painting outdoors or “out in the open”. Images are painted in a short period of time (usually several hours) to capture light and color temperatures. Jack references on the back of the painting the colors he has used. The capture of this natural light and color enables him to carry these c\small studies back to the studio and bring large paintings to life. Most of these Plein paintings are kept by Jack for his own collection. Periodically Jack will offer some of these small originals up for sale.

If you live in our area of Northwestern Pennsylvania, you may see him on some back road or field capturing Plein Airs. Since he travels with his painting box, he has also set up his easel in a variety of other areas. To the artist eye, there is always a new painting around the next bend. It may be an interesting valley or perhaps a palm tree swaying in the breeze.
